A Professional and
Certified Team
As a licensed professional
guide who is a native of Tanzania, I am able to show you
Mount Kilimanjaro and Tanzania sights like no outsider can.
I was born and raised at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro and
began climbing the mountain as a porter at the age of
sixteen. Since I was fluent in English I moved quickly into
the position of assistant guide. I then trained and obtained
my license as a mountain guide with the National Park
Service of Tanzania and have been very busy guiding on Mount
Kilimanjaro for thirteen years. Growing up as a member of
the Chagga Tribe that calls the foothills of Kilimanjaro
home, I have a love and understanding for the beauty of my
country and the expertise to make every trek and safari
memorable with safety as my number one concern. All of my
staff and I are able to offer our many skills as
conscientious mountain guides and naturalists. Your safety
and well being are of utmost importance - I am certified by:
National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS)
Advanced Wilderness First Aide
Heart Saver CPR
My assistant guides are certified in these life saving
skills as well. As owner and guide of Masai Giraffe Safaris
Ltd, I carefully plan each detail of your trip to ensure
that All of your dreams come true! when you experience the
wonder of Tanzania!
The mountain cuisine for all climbs are specially prepared
to provide a balanced diet of fresh fruit, vegetables,
plenty of protein and carbohydrates. We have tried to choose
food items that are easiest to digest at high altitude. Our
cooks undergo extensive training and we have ongoing
workshops to review menus. The cooks are particularly
vigilant in their hygiene practices as contracting stomach
bugs is common for visitors to the developing world. Special
dietary need can be accommodated.
Masai giraffe carries first aid kits and multiple
communications equipment on every single climb.
All of Masai giraffe guides are trained in wilderness first
aid, mountain craft, natural history and ecological
awareness.
Our climbs are equipped with the finest climbing and camping
apparatus, safety equipment and communications network on
Mount Kilimanjaro. Comfortable and private igloo-shaped
tents allow our travelers to bypass the very rustic mountain
huts where most trekkers spend their nights.
While many trekkers spend as little as five days on the
mountain, we schedule up to seven days to allow more time
for premium altitude acclimatization, giving Masai giraffe a
successful summit rate of 98 percent! |
